  1. New exhibition at the Modernism Museum-- Space Oddities: The Sequel

    The Modernism Museum Mount Dora is pleased to announce its new exhibition, Space Oddities: The Sequel. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, July 9th and will run until mid-2020. Space Oddities: The Sequel expands upon the Modernism Museum’s exhibition of mind-bending Post-Modern designs created by the radical 1980s design collective known as Memphis. This exhibit features hundreds of new Memphis design objects never-before displayed at the Modernism Museum. A members-only opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Modernism Museum gallery. This event is only open to 3MD Members; however, memberships will be available for purchase at the event. Individual-level Memberships start at $40 and several levels are available.   2. Vilas Tonape- Solo Exhibit

    February 15, 2020, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Mount Dora Center For The Arts

    Working in both figurative and non-representational modes, Tonape focuses on nature. His paintings are “melodies” orchestrated by the artist, rooted in the visual rhythms of gesture and color, recorded in the subject matter. Opening reception: January 10th, 2020 6-8 PM.

  1. Chess Club

    Come watch, learn, and play chess. All skill levels and ages are welcome! Beginners will learn basic moves and then be paired with a player. Beginners are especially welcome! Studies have shown that chess may raise students' IQ and help prevent Alzheimer's. Chess is call "the game of kings" and will boost your creativity, memory, and problem-solving skills. Drop in anytime between 10:00am and noon, on the first and third Saturday of each month. No registration required.

    October Mountain Washtub Band is a five piece band – harmonica, guitar/fiddle, mandolin, washtub bass and banjo. Please join us for this FREE concert featuring many well-loved folk and back-country Seats are on a first come, first served basis. Overflow parking is available at Church of Christ (1801 N. Donnelly Street). The band is scheduled to perform two identical concerts: 11:00am and 2:00pm. Sponsored by the Mount Dora Library Association.

  3. Digital Art Basics

    February 15, 2020, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM @ Technology Lab

    Learn how to use your cellphone and/or tablet to create digital art using the free Adobe Illustrator Draw app (found on your device's app store; please download the app before class). You'll need to bring your Apple Pencil or Samsung S Pen to class and have it paired with your device. If you need help downloading the Adobe Illustrator Draw app and/or pairing your pen to your device, please come to class 10 minutes early. Learn how to create a simple drawing. Learn the difference between freehand and using different shapes. Learn how to convert your finished work to a usable format. Registration is required for this free class.
